Bapaiah and produced by D. Ramanaidu. The film stars Srikanth, Abhishek and Sonali Bendre. It was dubbed into Tamil as "Naan Potta Solli" and Hindi as "Main Hoon Raja". The film was a major blockbuster at the box office. The film is about a teenager living in suburban town in Hyderabad who has to choose between his father's dreams for him and his own.The songs featured in this movie were composed by M. M. Keeravani with lyrics by Pingali Nagendra Rao. This movie completed 100 days run in 34 centres across Andhra Pradesh, defeating Ninnu Choodalani of the same banner for the same number of days earlier. This movie won four Nandi Awards in the year 1995. Various websites have claimed that this movie has been inspired by the Hollywood film "Field of Dreams" which is baseless. It has also been claimed that the character portrayed by Abhishek in this film is based on Prem Chopra's role in "Chashme Buddoor", which is also incorrect.The story line is about a teenager who lives with his dad while his mother lives in USA. His father boasts about his son, who he thinks can be a great cricketer. But surprisingly, the son isn't interested to play cricket and rather loves theatre (he was inspired by Famous Theater Group Lalithakala Mandiram). He decides to apply for a spot in a drama group and impresses the school principal. He eventually tells his dad that he wants to become a lawyer, not a cricketer. His father insults him at first but then accepts that the son is doing what he wants, and encourages him to do so as well. Shootouts: In an earlier scene there was a shoot out as Srikanth as Mohan Singh opens fire on Abhishek as Samrat Bhadur Singh. There was another shoot out in the climax between Srikanth as Mohan Singh and Abhishek as Samrat Bhadur Singh. The movie was remade in Tamil as "Naan Potta Solli" (1998) with Vishnu Manohar, directed by Prof. D. Thamizh Selvan. The film was dubbed into Hindi as "Main Hoon Raja" (1999) with Aditya Pancholi, directed by Keshu Ramsay Dhar and Priyadarshan being the director.
